This is a great read if you want to get the low-down on corporate America, from as close to it’s heart as you can.
Louis Gerstner was charged with ’saving’ IBM just as it was falling off a cliff.
The call that came from the top echelons of government were clear - you cannot afford to let IBM fail, or America fails.
Yet Gerstner and his team did an amazing job, though engaging the management team and the workforce.
It’s a testament to strong firm management and leadership using their soft skills to motivate a business deep in a hole.
Though not for everyone, it’s still one of my ‘Top Ten Books’.
